I liveried my MP4-4 today (I made it Prost's not Senna's, ha !) and I think I'm finally hitting my stride. Nary an air bubble, tear or errant/misaligned decal. In honor of my achievement, here's a moody Alpine.

I used to think water transfer decals had to soak. When I realized how well "dip completely, set on paper towel" worked, I could have shot myself. So many projects of my childhood were subpar as a result of that...

Tell me about it. When I started, I read so many different things about how to properly apply decals. I saw people soaking whole sheets and firing off the decals one-by-one, using tweezers, fingers, etc.

The rub is to find what works for your level of familiarity with the model and application process.

I'll definitely post them when I've finished the paint.

No criticism at all, just acknowledgement.

's a good pic

My technique now is dip, paper towel (moist), *moisten finger first*, and push off with light fingertip. Individual cut so you can apply each one just as it first breaks loose. Generally helps to wipe fingertip after each one, as the fingertip tends to pick up glue. This technique only really works best on a fairly high grade of decal, as some others leave too much glue. Those need to soak about 5 sec before being laid out to soften.

Looks like your criticism sequence didn't initiate. Could be a problem with your subjectivity drivers. I'll make some calls and see what I can do.

Also, thanks.

I cut them individually as well, grip the backing paper with tweezers and soak each between 10-20 seconds depending on how warm the water is. I use a stiff, flat brush to get the decal on the model and kajigger it around with a wet finger.

Have you tried setting solution?

I used it on this model .....it would have been impossible to do the decals without it.
